Permanent makeup has revolutionized the beauty industry, offering a range of options for those seeking long-lasting, hassle-free enhancements to their natural features. From microblading to lip blush and eyeliner tattooing, the choices seem endless. Let's take a look at all of the options available in the world of permanent makeup, the good, the bad, and the ugly (no pun intended), and how to choose the right method for you. I'll also explain why you should consider SofTap Permanent Cosmetics, which is my favorite., and my preferred technique.

Powder Permanent Eyebrows: also known as powdered or ombre brows, this technique is used to create semi-permanent makeup for the eyebrows. This method is different from microblading, which involves creating hair-like strokes, as powder brows create a soft, powdered makeup look that resembles the appearance of filled-in eyebrows with makeup. This can be achieved with a tattoo machine or with the sofTap handheld method. With sofTap the color is gently tapped or etched into the skin. This method is gentle, non-invasive, and gives the most natural look in permanent cosmetics.

Microblading:

Microblading has become one of the most sought-after techniques for enhancing eyebrows. It involves using a manual hand tool (blade) to create hair-like strokes that mimic natural eyebrow hairs.

Different Eyebrow techniques:

In the world of beauty and aesthetics, eyebrows are often considered the frame of the face. They play a crucial role in enhancing one's overall appearance. However, not everyone is blessed with naturally perfect eyebrows.

Pros of Microblading:

  1. Natural-Looking Results: Microblading uses fine, hair-like strokes to mimic the look of natural eyebrow hairs, resulting in a more natural appearance compared to traditional tattooing.

  2. Semi-Permanent: Unlike traditional tattoos, microblading is semi-permanent, meaning it will fade over time. This allows you to adjust your eyebrow style or shape as trends change.

  3. Low Maintenance: Microbladed eyebrows require minimal daily upkeep. You can save time and money on eyebrow makeup products and application.

  4. Boost in Confidence: Well-shaped eyebrows can enhance your overall appearance, boosting your confidence and self-esteem.

  5. Saves Time: You can wake up with perfect brows every day, reducing the time and effort required for your daily makeup routine.

Cons of Microblading:

  1. Cost: Microblading can be relatively expensive, and it may require frequent touch-ups as often as every 6 months, which adds to the overall cost.

  2. Sensitivity and Discomfort: While numbing cream can be used, not every microblading artist likes to use it. Some clients may still experience discomfort during the procedure, especially in more sensitive areas.

  3. Color Fading and Shifting: Over time, the color of microbladed eyebrows may fade or shift, requiring touch-up sessions to maintain the desired appearance. In my experience most microbladed eyebrows fade very "splotchy" (See picture below)

  4. Healing Process: The healing process can be a bit lengthy (typically 4-6 weeks), during which the eyebrows may appear darker initially and then gradually lighten. Some clients may not be happy with the initial post-procedure look. Microblading

  5. Not Suitable for All Skin Types: Microblading may not be suitable for certain skin types, such as oily or very dry skin. Results can vary depending on individual skin characteristics.

  6. Scarring can happen: Scar tissue can build up, becoming thicker and more obvious with each additional microblading touch-up. Remember: it's a blade. So if you scar easily, you're likely to be left with scar tissue.

Microblading can be an excellent option for those looking to achieve natural-looking, well-defined eyebrows with minimal daily maintenance.

"Splotchy"

fading from microblading

Here is a picture of someone that had their brows done with a tattoo machine. In my experience, it's much harder to achieve that soft powder look with this method. Eyebrows appear to be bold and more defined and because of the colors used, it's not uncommon for the brows to fade to gray.

Pros of Powder Brows:

  1. Natural Appearance: Powder brows create a soft, powdered makeup look, providing a natural and defined appearance that doesn't mimic individual hairs.

  2. Versatility: The technique allows for versatility in shaping and shading, making it suitable for various eyebrow styles, from bold and defined to soft and subtle.

  3. Low Maintenance: Powder brows require minimal daily maintenance. You won't need to fill in or shape your brows with makeup regularly.

  4. Semi-Permanent: Powder brows generally lasts longer than microblading typically 3-5 years, depending on various factors, such as skin type, aftercare and lifestyle.

  5. Suitable for All Skin Types: Unlike the other techniques, With SofTap method, powder brows are suitable for all skin types, including oily skin. Although, with the tattoo machine this may not be the case.

So, why does The SoTtap method stand out? Because why not combine the beautiful, natural look of microblading with the staying power of powdered brows and do a 3D hybrid brow!!

If you examine this eyebrow closely, you can see individual hairs at the beginning, with the powder filling in the rest.

Now, let's take a look at other Permanent Makeup techniques.

Cons of Powder Brows

  1. Cost: The initial cost of the procedure can be relatively high, and touch-up sessions may be needed to maintain the desired look, adding to the overall expense.

  2. Color Fading and Shifting: Over time, the pigment may fade or shift slightly, necessitating touch-ups.

  3. The healing process: It can take several weeks, and clients may experience temporary redness, swelling, or peeling. After healing, the color of the brows will fade and soften to their most beautiful appearance.

  4. Sensitivity: Some clients may experience discomfort during the procedure, despite the use of numbing creams.

  5. Artist Skill: The quality of the results largely depends on the skill and expertise of the tattoo artist. It's crucial to choose a reputable and experienced practitioner.

Lip Blushing

This technique has emerged as a popular choice for individuals looking to enhance the natural beauty of their lips. Lip blush is a form of semi-permanent makeup that involves the application of pigment to the lips. This procedure can be a transformative solution for individuals with concerns about the natural color or irregularities in their lips. Whether it's correcting lip discoloration, enhancing the natural lip color, or creating a more defined and symmetrical appearance. Unlike traditional lipstick or lip liner, lip blush provides a soft and natural tint, making the lips look fuller, more defined, and alluring without the need for constant reapplication.

Benefits of Lip Blush Permanent Makeup

  1. Natural Look: Lip blush provides a soft, natural tint to the lips, enhancing their color and shape without having to apply lipstick.

  2. Semi-Permanent: The results typically last one to three years, giving you the flexibility to change your lip color or style over time. In my experience, most women choose to have yearly touchups as the color fades fairly quickly. The more moisturized you keep your lips the longer it will last.

  3. Low Maintenance: Say goodbye to reapplying lipstick throughout the day. Lip blush reduces the need for constant touch-ups and maintenance.

  4. Confidence Boost: Fuller, more defined lips can boost your confidence and overall appearance, making you feel more alluring and self-assured.

  5. Time-Saver: Lip blush saves you time in your daily makeup routine, as you won't need to worry about lipstick fading or smudging.

  6. Customization: The procedure can be tailored to your unique preferences, ensuring that the result complements your features and style.

  7. Color Correcting: Some women have uneven color throughout their lips. Choosing the right pigment color can neutralize deep purples and even the natural brown that can occur.

Lip blush permanent makeup is a game-changer in the beauty industry, offering a natural and low-maintenance solution for enhancing the lips. Whether you desire fuller, more defined lips or simply want to simplify your daily makeup routine, lip blush provides a versatile and customizable option. When considering lip blush, it's essential to choose a skilled and experienced practitioner to achieve the best, most alluring results. With lip blush, you can effortlessly achieve the perfect pout that enhances your natural beauty and boosts your confidence.
